Do All Religions Lead to God?
This video excerpt is from a live presentation by Scott Stein.
Note: This is Part 1 of 2 dealing with the question "Do All Religions Lead to God?" Join us for Part 2 in the next post, where we explore how Christians should respond to this question.
“There can’t be just one way to God!”
In our religiously pluralistic culture, claims about knowing the true path to God are at best considered naïve and at worst arrogantly intolerant. After all, in a world of so many religious and spiritual beliefs, how can anyone lay exclusive claim to the truth about God?
What makes responding to this objection so difficult is that the facts of the matter are so often wrapped up with the feelings of those with whom we’re sharing the gospel. We want to boldly declare Jesus to them as “the way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6), but we don’t want to neglect or hurt the person we’re witnessing to.
How should Christians react?
In 2 Timothy 2:24-25, the apostle Paul gives Timothy these instructions:
The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, skillful in teaching, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth.
Leaning on Paul’s wisdom, in this short video discussion, we explore some faulty and hidden assumptions behind this objection from religious pluralism.
In Part 2 of this question, the next post, we'll continue by exploring
- Questions we can use to help people expose these hidden assumptions for themselves.
- Three key principles from God’s words to help us navigate difficult faith conversations like this one.
